B-VET Consortium Meeting in Uganda Strengthens TVET Collaboration and Innovation

The B-VET project consortium successfully held its second international meeting in Uganda from 24–28 November 2025, bringing together partners from Europe and Uganda to review project progress, strengthen institutional collaboration, and engage directly with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stakeholders across Northern Uganda. The five-day meeting provided an important platform for partners to assess ongoing work packages, exchange experiences, and explore practical approaches to improving vocational education and agricultural training in the region.

Day 1: Strategic Discussions at GWED-G and Gulu University

The meeting officially opened in Gulu with a welcome session hosted by GWED-G. Consortium partners reviewed progress under WP1 (Project Management and Coordination) and received updates on WP2 and WP3, focusing on Uganda’s VET system and the development of a cross-disciplinary vocational training programme. Later in the day, the delegation visited Gulu University, where discussions centered on WP5, the Virtual Learning Hub initiative. The visit also included interactive sessions with university staff and TVET students, highlighting the importance of digital learning and institutional collaboration.

Day 2: Visit to Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre (NUYDC-Labora)

On the second day, consortium members visited the Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre (NUYDC-Labora). The team held a courtesy meeting with institutional leadership, interacted with lecturers and learners, and toured vocational training workshops and facilities. The visit offered practical insights into vocational training delivery and reinforced the project’s commitment to aligning educational activities with local realities and workforce needs.

Day 3: Muni University Engagement

The third day was hosted by Muni University and included presentations on several key project components, including:
  • WP6: Quality and Impact Management
  • WP4: Learning Mobilities in Spain and Greece
  • WP7: Dissemination and Exploitation
Partners also toured Muni University’s TVET sites, including apiary, mushroom, and poultry projects, showcasing hands-on agricultural and vocational learning practices.

Day 4: Agricultural Training at Adraa Agricultural College

The consortium continued its field activities with a visit to Adraa Agricultural College (AAC), where participants explored agricultural training facilities and engaged with instructors and students. The visit concluded with a reflective debrief session focused on lessons learned and their relevance to ongoing project work packages.

Day 5: Team Building and Closing Activities

The final day was dedicated to team-building activities in a national park, including a game drive and a boat ride to the Top of the Falls. The meeting concluded with the departure of international and local teams, marking the end of a productive week of collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable TVET Development

Overall, the Uganda consortium meeting successfully reinforced partnerships among participating institutions, validated progress across work packages, and ensured stronger alignment between project activities and the realities of TVET and agricultural training in Uganda. The B-VET project continues to play a significant role in building the capacity of VET providers in West Nile and Northern Uganda through innovation, collaboration, and international cooperation.
