Ioannina, Greece | 24–26 June 2026

From 24 to 26 June 2026, the B-VET project partnership gathered in Ioannina, Greece, for a three-day Learning Mobility hosted by TECHLAB. The activity brought together European and Ugandan partners to exchange knowledge, explore innovative vocational education and training (VET) practices, and strengthen the connection between agricultural education and real labour-market needs.

Organised within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Building Capacity of VET Providers in West Nile and Northern Uganda” (B-VET), the mobility provided an opportunity to explore practical training approaches, engage with agricultural and agri-food enterprises, and identify European good practices that could be adapted to the Ugandan VET context.

Day 1 – Exploring Agricultural Industry and VET Practices

The first day introduced participants to the Greek vocational education and training system, with particular attention to practical learning methodologies, European standards and cooperation between training providers and industry.

A key highlight was the study visit to PINDOS Agricultural Poultry Cooperative, where participants explored poultry production processes, food safety standards, quality assurance procedures and workforce skills requirements.

The visit highlighted the importance of cooperation between agricultural enterprises and VET providers in ensuring that training programmes respond effectively to labour-market demands.

Day 2 – Connecting Vocational Training with Dairy Production

The second day focused on strengthening the connection between vocational education and the agri-food industry through two study visits.

At the Dairy Vocational School of Ioannina, participants explored practical training methodologies, laboratory and workshop-based learning, and cooperation between educational institutions and local enterprises.

The visit to DODONI Milk Industry offered valuable insights into dairy production and processing technologies, hygiene protocols, quality control and the professional skills required within the sector.

The day concluded with an exchange of experiences and good practices between Greek and Ugandan participants, particularly regarding work-based learning and the integration of practical skills into vocational training.

Day 3 – Transforming Knowledge into Action

The final day focused on knowledge transfer, curriculum development and the adaptation of European good practices to the Ugandan VET environment.

Through a dedicated Curriculum Development Workshop, project partners explored how practical training methodologies and industry-oriented approaches could contribute to strengthening agricultural VET programmes in West Nile and Northern Uganda.

Particular emphasis was placed on sustainability, agroecology, digital agricultural tools and the integration of practical and competency-based learning methodologies.

The mobility concluded with reflection, evaluation and institutional action-planning discussions, followed by the awarding of certificates and Europass Mobility documentation.

Strengthening the Future of Agricultural VET in Uganda

Beyond the study visits, the Learning Mobility created valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, institutional cooperation and the identification of transferable good practices.

The experience reinforced the importance of developing VET programmes that combine theoretical knowledge with practical occupational competencies, sustainable agricultural approaches, entrepreneurship and closer cooperation with industry.

Through these activities, B-VET continues to support the development of more relevant, innovative and labour-market-oriented vocational education in Uganda.

Learn. Exchange. Adapt. Transform.

That is B-VET in action!
